Ethel Catherine Vincent Picard passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2022. She was born in Gueydan, Louisiana on October 14, 1933 to Edgar and Fidelis Vincent and moved to Biloxi after her marriage to Leroy Picard in 1953.
She was a loving wife, mother, MawMaw and devoted Catholic. As an active member of St. Michael’s Parish for nearly seventy years, she served on the Altar Society, St. Vincent de Paul Committee, and as an Eucharistic Minister. She also received the parish’s Lumen Christi award from Bishop Thomas Rodi in 2005. Upon the death of her beloved husband in 1994, she volunteered at Biloxi Regional Hospital for over twenty years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband of 40 years; her son, Ricky Picard; a granddaughter, Jennifer McFarland; a great-grandson, Wyatt Picard; and sisters, Delta Jannise and Viola Breaux, both of Gueydan, LA. Survivors include her children, Kathy (Jimmy) McFarland of Elgin, SC, John (Olga) Picard of Pensacola, FL, Steve (Mary) Picard of Gulfport, Alan (Lisa) Picard of Gulfport, David Picard of Biloxi, and Lynette (Billy) Clayton of Richmond Hill, GA; daughter-in-law, Cindy Picard of D’Iberville; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sisters, Betty Gunter of Grand Bay, AL and Dorothy Bourque of Gueydan, LA.
The family would like to thank her son David for his selfless love and devotion toward her care during the past several years. They would also like to recognize the staff at Catherine House, in particular Ms B, Saad’s Healthcare, and Dr. Yashashree Bethala for the loving care they provided to her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10am with a Mass to follow at 11am. Her final resting place will be next to her late husband at the Biloxi City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Michael.
