Everett “Nago” Hebert, 74, of St. Martin/D’Iberville area, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, February 28, 2012.
Nago was a native of Biloxi and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for forty years. He was a 1957 graduate of Biloxi High School, where he lettered in basketball and baseball. He also served in the U. S. Marine Corps for six years. Nago played and coached softball for many years, winning State Championships. He was a key figure in promoting sports in D’Iberville, where he coached Little League Baseball and Pee Wee Football. Nago was the President of the Babe Ruth League and founder of D’Iberville Biddy Basketball which was later named after him. He was a former announcer for D’Iberville High School Football and Basketball. He received the Outstanding Citizen Award in 1985 from the D’Iberville Community Club and he was the winner of the Amateur Football Award awarded by the Gulf Coast Chapter of the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame.He was employed with the Biloxi V.A. Physical Therapy Department for forty-five years, receiving three awards for his work. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel and Annie (Louviere) Hebert.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Judy Bond Hebert; brothers, Tommy and Earl Hebert; sisters-in-law; Pauline (Butch) Enoch and Lisa (Pete) Misko; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, all whom he loved very much.
The family would like to thank Ocean Springs Hospital 2nd floor nurses and staff and SAAD’S Hospice for the care they provided for Nago.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Biloxi on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 2:00 pm, where friends may visit from 12:00 pm until Mass time.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
