Everett Newell Strawn, Jr.

Chief Master Sergeant Everett Newell Strawn, Jr., (USAF Retired), 74, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2006, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Strawn was born in Carlisle, Arkansas, July 26, 1931. At the age of 15 he joined the Army Air Corps. He served 28 years with distinguished service and received numerous awards, including the Bronze Star for Southeast Asia. He was a Master Mason, Oregon Military Lodge. After retirement he graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, a Master of Education Degree, and a Master's Degree in Psychology. He went on to become an Electronics Engineering Instructor at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Jackson County Campus, and later taught Industrial Engineering for Dupont Delisle, Brown and Root, Chevron Oil Company in Libya, and many other facilities across the United States. Mr. Strawn was preceded in death by his father, Everett Newell Strawn, Sr.: his mother and step-father, Clara Moody Strawn Hoard and Commodore "Pete" Hoard, all of Dyess, AR, and his sister, Nadine Strawn Cox of Little Rock, AR. Survivors include his wife, Suneeya "Tanny" Strawn, of Ocean Springs; his sister, Nellie Strawn Keirsey, of West Helena, AR; five children and their spouses, Trenna S. Hensley and Robert of Biloxi, Everett N. Strawn, III and Rhonda of Gulfport, Patricia "Tricia" S. Collins and Donald of Biloxi, John J. Strawn of McHenry, and Donna S. O'Rourke and Patrick of Biloxi; eight grandchildren, Tiffany D. Hensley, Christopher C. Hensley, Crystal Strawn LeLeaux, Charlye Strawn Dunaway, Christy Collins LeBatard, Kimberly A. Collins, John J. Strawn, Jr., and Justin M. O'Rourke. He is also survived by three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
