Exavier Charles Niolet, Jr., age 86, died Monday, October 3, 2011 in Gulfport. He was born in Gulfport and was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4472 in Pass Christian where he was a Third Degree, and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars # 5931 in Pass Christian. An avid golfer, he was a member of Pass Christian Isles Golf Club and was a former Boy Scout Leader. In sales for 45 years, he retired from the grocery business where he was owner of Community Supermarket in Pass Christian.
He was preceded in death by
his first wife, Pearl LaRosa Niolet; infant twin sons; parents, E.C. and Dottie Niolet, Sr; and a sister, Eunice Crabb.
Mr. Niolet is survived by his wife, Marie Niolet of Pass Christian; three daughters, Veronica Ann Niolet of Diamondhead, Brenda Niolet (Rod) Herring of Pass Christian; and Elizabeth Rogers (Lamar) Calloway of Tulsa, OK; six sons, Gregory (Mary) Niolet of Pass Christian, Exavier Charles Niolet, III of Vancleave, Gene J. (Tina) Rogers, Jr. of Madison, James T. Rogers of Pass Christian, David A. Rogers of Long Beach, and Joseph A. Rogers of Pass Christian; a sister, Kitty (John) Wilkerson of Long Beach; eighteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport with a Rosary service at 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Pass Christian, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
