ather Denis J. Harlow, 76, of Biloxi, MS, died Thursday, July 1, 2010, in Gulfport. Father Harlow was born in Roscommon, Ireland and was a graduate of Summerhill College in Sligo, Ireland. He studied for the priesthood at St. Patrick's in Carlow, Ireland from 1952 to 1958. Father Harlow was a priest for the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi and served at St. Paul in Vicksburg, St. Mary in Jackson, Our Lady of the Gulf in Bay St. Louis, St. John in Crystal Springs, Sacred Heart in Canton, St. Joseph in Gulfport, Sacred Heart in D'Iberville and Our Lady of Fatima in Biloxi. Father Harlow also served as chaplain at the Biloxi VA from 1987 through 1995 and Chaplain at Biloxi Regional Medical Center and Gulf Coast Community Hospital from 1981 through 2007. Father Harlow is preceded in death by his parents, Denis Joseph and Mary Harlow; and a brother, Thomas Harlow. He is survived by four sisters, Myra Hogan of Athlone, Ireland, Sister Maria Sarto of Boyle, Ireland, Eilish Smyth of Roscommon, Ireland, and Martha Harlow of Galway, Ireland; and three brothers, Padraig Harlow, James Harlow, both of Roscommon, Ireland, and William S. Harlow of Schenectady, NY, Visitation is Monday, July 5, 2010, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial is 3 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where friends may visit from 1 p.m until service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the Priest's Retirement Fund, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 2090 Pass Road, Biloxi, MS 39531. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road, in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
