Ms. Florine Virginia Campbell, age 89, lifelong resident of Biloxi, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 from complications while undergoing treatment for pneumonia.
Ms. Campbell was born to Clyde L. Campbell and Marie Virginia Lewis Campbell on February 18, 1925. She was very active in the community. She belonged to First Baptist Church of Biloxi and sang in the Chancel Choir, including most of the church’s Singing Christmas Tree performances.
Ms. Campbell was employed by Mississippi Power Company in the Biloxi office for 43 years. For many years, she was elected secretary of Coast Community Concert Association and also belonged to the Coast Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Campbell was a past Worthy Matron of Ann Grayson, Chapter No. 50, Order of the Eastern Star. In later years, Ms. Campbell became a volunteer at Biloxi Regional Medical Center, serving over 20 years.
Ms. Campbell is preceded in death by her sister, Frances Moreland and her husband, Charles; brother, Clyde Campbell, Jr. and his wife, Gerita; and nephew, Charles W. Moreland, Jr.
Survivors include her sister, longtime care giver, all time traveling companion and best friend, Catherine Campbell; nephew, Michael Moreland, Sr. and his wife, Janice; great nephews, Michael Moreland Jr. and Lance Moreland and his wife, Suzette; a great niece, Jada Ewing and husband, Jerry; and great great nieces and nephews, Hayley and Alexandra Moreland, Reece and Annalee Ewing and Maddox and Madeline Moreland.
Services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Biloxi. Friends may visit from 9:30-10:30 followed by a message by Dr. Frank Gunn. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
