Frances "Fran" Elvira Vargas

Frances "Fran" Elvira Vargas age 60 of Ocean Springs passed away on February 18th, 2024, in her home.

Fran was born in Lompoc, California to Remedios and William Bergdal. She graduated from Morris Knolls High School in Denville, New Jersey. Over the years, she worked at Bankers, was a medical transcriptionist, and volunteered at the Humane Society. She was the third of four sisters and devoted to her family and close friends. She was known for being the go-to person for advice. She has a great love and respect for animals and cared for many, including a Cockatiel named Twinkie for 31 years. She loved music, reading, word searches, and a good murder mystery. She loved to travel, but she also enjoyed the peace and quiet of being at home. She was an incredibly independent, strong-willed, brave woman with a wonderfully quick -witted sense of humor and a huge heart. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Henry Bergdal; brother-in-law, David Axmann; and many beloved relatives.

Fran is survived by her mother, Remedios Bergdal; Sisters: Carmen Axmann, Elsie Nawab, and Teresa Bergdal; Daughter: Amanda Vargas; Brothers-in Law, Kazim Nawab and Aurelio Vito; beloved nieces and nephews, Sarah Vito, Daniel Vito, Michael Vito, Ana Axmann, Alex Axmann, and Gerar Nawab; great niece, Lucia; great nephews, Javier and Draco; and her cherished pets, Mya and Henry.

In lieu of flowers, Fran would wish for donations to be made to St. Jude or the local humane society.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior.
