Mrs. Frances Ramsay Shoemaker, 89, of the Ramsay Community, died Saturday, February 9, 2008, in Gautier. Mrs. Shoemaker was born in Lucedale and was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast, residing in both the Edgewater Gulf Hotel and Edgewater Park. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Gulfport and was serving on the Board of Trustees of the New Prospect United Methodist Campground in Vancleave. She was currently a member of Bonnie Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Shoemaker was preceded in death by her husband, A. P. Shoemaker, Jr., and sister, Clio Ramsay Bains. Survivors include two daughters, Lyn Brown and her husband, Raymond, of Gautier, and Ramsay Marcy and her husband, Bob, of the Ramsay Community; son, Powell Shoemaker and his wife, Elaine, of Gautier; sister, Teeny Appleton of the Ramsay Community; 8 grandchildren, Allison Buchanan, Beverly Dees, Ray Brown, Jr., Michelle Shoemaker, Joy Shoemaker, Carolyn Sadkowski, Melissa Shoemaker, and T/Sgt. Robert Marcy, Jr.; and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation is Monday, February 11, 2008, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnie Chapel United Methodist Church where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in the Ramsay Family Cemetery in Jackson County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bonnie Chapel United Methodist Church, Stained Glass Window Fund, 21000 Farm Road, Vancleave, MS 39565.
