Frances Skrnich Mason, lifelong resident of Biloxi, passed away Friday, March, 12, 2010. She was 84. Mrs. Mason was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church.
Mrs. Mason was a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband, Larry Mason, in running Mason’s Watch Repair and Jewelers until his retirement from the business in 2001, which operated in downtown Biloxi for over 60 years. She was also actively involved with her husband in veteran affairs and functions, serving as a life member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lawrence William Mason; her parents, John and Antonia (Kuljis) Skrnich,\; brothers Thomas Skrnich, Joseph (“Chibby”) Skrnich, John (“Johnny”) Skrnich Jr., Michael Skrnich, and Samuel (“Sammy”) Skrnich; sisters, Clara Cosmich and Margaret Skrnich; and a grandson, Robert Lee Smith.
She is survived by her five children, Robert Mason and wife, Mary (Robinson), Carolyn Murphy and husband, James, Mary Lee McDonald and husband, James, John Lee Mason and wife, Terri (Bang), and Thomas Lee Mason; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Delores Sonnier and Lucritcha Broussard and loving friend Linda Joffrion.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Gloria, Kimmy, Lonnie, Bobbie and Darryl for the love and personal care they gave her over the last year. In addition, the family wishes to thank Father Dominick Fullam, Camellia Hospice, and the countless friends who comforted us at this time.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Nativity BVM at 11:00 a.m. where friends may visit from 9:00 until time of mass. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Avenue, Biloxi, is in charge of arrangements.
