Francis Murray, 77, beloved husband and father, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 in d'Iberville, MS.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia “Patsy” Murray of d'Iberville; his son, Derek Murray of d'Iberville; his sister, Cheryl McQueen of Biloxi; sister-in-law, Glenda Holifield (Glen) of Biloxi; and brothers-in-law, John Hickman (Amy) of Biloxi and William Hickman (Debbie) of St. Martin. Nieces and nephews include Jennifer Williams, Nicole Johns, Mickey Miller, Jacob Hickman, Jason Hickman, Ashley Thrash and Billy Hickman. Extended family members are Bernard Chevalier Ir., Eva Louise Roehm, Roberta Lechner, Marqueritte Schneider, Paulette Strayham, Donald Miller, and Mary, Robin and Patrick Bailey.
Francis was born to Charles and Marguerite Murray and was a lifelong resident of the coast. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1961 and attended Perkinson Jr. College. He retired from Huntington Ingalls after 43 years. He was an avid sports fan of hockey, football and baseball, and loved going to Shucker's games with his brother-in-law Glen. He loved to fish and spent many summers at the family fish camp in Gautier before it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Francis never met a stranger and always made a friend. Above all, he loved his family and friends and they loved him. He will forever be missed.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 8, 2021 Nativity BVM Cathedral, Howard Avenue, Biloxi, MS, with visitation for family and friends from 10:00 AM to 11.00 AM, Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the American Cancer Society, Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or to The Nativity BVM Cathedral, 870 West Howard Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39530.
