Gary Allen Nickles died on November 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at home. He was born on July 31, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri.

 Gary led his life with integrity, humility, and quiet strength. As a husband, father, and brother, he was gentle and generous with his love, always eager to share his laughter. He never sought the spotlight, but always extended a caring hand. He encouraged others to never give up in the face of any challenge and ensured everyone felt included. To his siblings, he was a dedicated brother, steadfast in his guidance with a penchant for getting them both in and out of trouble. 

Throughout his life, Gary’s accomplishments were born of unwavering determination and discipline. A star athlete, he was not swayed by any obstacle. He excelled in football, track, wrestling, and shot put. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years and was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. 

Gary was married to his beloved wife Debbie. Theirs was a cherished match and enduring union.

 Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Victor F. and Geraldine M. Nickles; his infant, son, Jerry Allen Nickles; his sister, Judith “Judy” Phillips; his nephew, Dale Phillips; and his niece, Betty Phillips.

Gary is survived by his wife, Deborah “Debbie” Helen Creel Nickles. He is also survived by his sons, Shawn D. (Michelle) Creel, Shane T. (Tracey) Creel, Brian A. (Jessica) Nickles; and daughter, Susan A. Nickles; his grandchildren, Hunter, Brittany, Adam, Ryan, Joshua, Skyler, Sierra, Aeron, Devin, Brianna, Hayden, Sauncie, Skylar, and Seth; many great-grandchildren; his brother; Michael “Mike” Nickles; and niece, Marcy. 

Visitation is on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 12:15 with funeral rites at 1:15 PM at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi, Mississippi. His Rite of Committal will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Brian A. Nickles, Shawn D. Creel, Shane T. Creel, Skyler Beihoffer, Brian Brazil, and Sean Brazil.
