Long Beach
Gary Vincent Dauro, age 59, of Long Beach, died Monday, November 28, 2011 in Gulfport. He was born in Gulfport and was a lifelong resident of the Coast.
He was a graduate of Long Beach High School Class of 1970 and Jeff Davis Junior College. In his early career he worked with his family at Dauro's Florist. He then started his own landscaping business and then joined Home Depot in 1989 where he was employed until his retirement. He was a Certified Nurseryman in four states: MS, AL, LA, and FL and was a former board member of the Southeastern Florist Association. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Helen Grey (Newman) Dauro.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judy Papania Dauro; a daughter, Angela Marie Dauro; a son, John Vincent Dauro, all of Long Beach; five sisters, Paulette Lovinggood, Linda Dauro, Ann Munter, Maria Davis, Colette Quigley; five brothers, Sammy Dauro, Michael Dauro, Timmy Dauro, Vincent Dauro, Frank Dauro; his mother-in-law, Sue Papania; and Judy's siblings, Ken Papania, Leonard "Bro" Papania, Susanne Davis, John Papania and their families. He leaves behind a legion of family and friends who will greatly miss him.
Gary was passionate about his family, gardening, cooking, fishing, and was an avid Saints fan. He had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and the Rosary.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport.
