Genevieve "Jenny" Marie Hungerford Martino

Genevieve “Jenny” Marie Hungerford Martino, age 87, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 peacefully at her home.

Jenny was born on December 8, 1935 in Biloxi where she remained a lifelong resident. She was a 1954 graduate of Sacred Heart Girls Academy and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was Co-Owner of Martino Appliance Service from 1958 from 1993.

Jenny was a master seamstress and enjoyed gardening. She enjoyed spending time on her father’s shrimp boat, The Buddy Gillis. She loved hosting large family gatherings, cooking and catering. She was well known for her stuffed crabs and crab cakes.

Jenny was a fiercely devoted mother to her six children. When her children were young, Jenny enjoyed volunteering and supporting her children in activities from baseball mom to school activities including St. Theresa Altar Society, St. Theresa Elementary School PTA and Bazaar, and Notre Dame Booster Club. She was maternally dedicated to helping care for her grandchildren and cherished visits from her great grandchildren.

Jenny is preceded in death by her parents, John E. and Carrie Fountain Hungerford. Survivors include her loving husband of 69 years, Donald E. “Donnie” Martino, Sr.; children, Donna (Kevin) Cruso, Richie (Valerie) Martino, Paula (John) Wright, Steve (Cheryl) Martino, Chris (Dana) Martino, and Robbie (Michelle) Martino; grandchildren, Nicolas Cruso, GiAnna Cruso, Travis (Lindsay) Martino, Brandi Martino, Nichole (Shawn) Battise, Jonathan (Hannah) Wright, Matthew Wright, Eldon Martino, Ethan Martino, Dyllan Martino, Austin Martino and Shawn Chambers; and by her six great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all her caregivers including Saad’s Healthcare and Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Friends may visit from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.

A reception will follow at Le Fleur de Lis, 6650 Rose Farm Road, Suite B, Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
