George A. Kiernan, Jr.

Mr. George A. Kiernan, Jr., age 74, of Ocean Springs, MS., died on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, in Ocean Springs. He was born on August 14, 1934, in his grandmother's house on Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs to George and Carolyn Kiernan (both deceased). George retired in 1990 after a career as a painter and sheetrock contractor. He was recognized as one of the best across the country. After retiring, he was an avid golfer scoring a hole-in-one twice. He was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Kiernan and a sister, Vivian Provost. Survivors include his wife, Laura Richard Kiernan, four children, George (Yvette) Kiernan IV, Linda K. (Jefferson) Rogers, and David Kiernan, all of Ocean Springs, MS., and Robert Morrison of Corinth, MS., seven grandchildren, Brooke K. Hennig, Lauren Kiernan, Lynsie Kiernan, Kyle Jermyn and Cori Jermyn, all of Ocean Springs, MS., and Gauge Morrison and Trevor Morrison, both of Corinth, MS., two great-grandchildren, Aubree Jermyn and Bryson Kiernan, two sisters, Sylvia Catchot and Brenda Mallette, a brother, Robert Kiernan, all of Vancleave, MS., and many nieces and nephews. Among those, Terri Cannette, who was also one of his best friends. We will all miss him. A special thanks to the Gulf Coast Hospice for all of their care and concern. Visitation will be on Friday, July 17, 2009, from 11 AM - 12 Noon, with a 12 Noon chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs.
