George H. Byrd

George H. Byrd, age 72 passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023 at his home in Pass Christian.  He was born in Poplarville and was a life-long resident of the coast moving from Long Beach to Pass Christian five years ago.  He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Gulfport. He previously served in the U.S. Air Force and was employed as heavy equipment operator with H2O.

George was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta Byrd; and siblings, LeVelle, Tommy, Alice, and Jerry Ann.  He is survived by his wife, Eunice Byrd; two daughters, Robbin Meleae (Chris) and Rachael Torres; two sons, Kenneth French (Connie), Alfred Byrd (Jennifer); step-son, Norman Lee Vance (Tabitha); two sisters, Martha Knight and Faye Skipper; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 11:30 A.M. at Faith Baptist Church, Canal Road, Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi with military honors by the U.S. Air Force.
