George Michael Eid

George Michael Eid, age 68, of Gulfport, MS passed away at his home on Thursday, June 6th, 2024.

Born February 26, 1956, in Baltimore, Maryland, Mr. Eid is preceded in death by his parents, William F. Eid Sr. and Ruth V. (Egner) Eid and a son, John Paul Eid.

George joined the Navy at the age of 17 where he started his career as an advanced x-ray technician.  He served 14 years active duty and the remaining 10 years in the Reserve. He was also recalled back during Desert Storm. Decorations include: 2nd National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct, Navy Achievement Medal, Battle “E” Ribbon, and Sea Service Medal. 

He is survived by his beloved husband, Jimmy Lloyd Ely; his sons, Samuel (Ryan) Ely and Mark Watts and wife Neeli Watts; his grandchildren, Macy Watts, Will Watts, Tatum Watts, Jackson Miller, Daisy Grey Eid, and Evie Lane Eid. He was known to his grandchildren as Papa George. 

Surviving siblings include Betty Eid and husband Timothy Nikel, William Eid Jr. and wife Cathie, Charles Eid and wife Mary, Linda Eid and husband Philip Braun, Richard Eid and wife Christina, and many nieces and nephews.  

Visitation will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home at 15452 O’Neal Road, Gulfport MS on Monday June 10, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery.
