Mr. George J. Peranich, 86, of Gulfport, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006 in Pensacola. Mr. George Peranich entertained Coastians for years with his band George Preston and the Keynotes at the Broadwater, Diamondhead, Keesler AFB Officer’s Club, and numerous other venues throughout the area. Mr. Peranich also worked with The Associated General Contractors of Mississippi for 15 years from the early 1970’s to mid-1980’s. He spent his life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast with the exception of serving in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and the last seven months following Hurricane Katrina when he lived with his son Steve’s family in Pace, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. George L. Peranich; his wife of 51 years, Margaret Elizabeth Martinolich Peranich and his sister Mrs. Claire Bulleman. Mr. Peranich is survived by his brother Mr. Curtis L. Peranich of New Orleans, LA; daughter Mrs. Carl (Diane) Ladner, of Gulfport; son Mr. Robert "Bob" Peranich of O’Fallon, IL; daughter Mrs. Larry (Connie) Galloway, of Covington, LA; Mr. George "Eddy" Peranich (wife- Suzanne) of Birmingham, AL; Mr. Kenneth Peranich (wife – Lisa) of Gulfport, and Mr. Steve Peranich (wife – Angel) of Pace, FL; and sixteen grandchildren: Brooke, Jordan and Tyler Ladner of Gulfport; Michael and Lauren Peranich of O’Fallon, IL; Garrett, Taylor, Thomas and Parker Galloway of Covington, LA; Jonathan and Casey Peranich of Birmingham, AL; Tanner and Cameron Peranich of Gulfport; and Gregory, Zachary and Preston Peranich of Pace, FL. The visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Biloxi. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday April 27, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Biloxi, where friends may call one hour before the Mass. His thirteen grandsons will serve as pallbearers and his three granddaughters will serve as Readers. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
