Mr. George "Kelly" McElhenney, age 73, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Sunday, November 6, 2005, in Gautier.
Mr. McElhenney was a resident of the community for 32 years. He was born in Decatur, MS., and was a graduate of Decatur High School. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 20 years as an aircraft (crew chief) mechanic. Mr. McElhenney was the owner and operator of Kelly's Lounge in Ocean Springs for many years. He also had a produce stand and sold used cars in Ocean Springs. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1992 in Gautier.
Mr. McElhenney was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Willie Mae Ward McElhenney, two brothers, M.H. "Shorty" McElhenney and Harold McElhenney, a sister, Margie Robinson, and his first wife, Hillary McElhenney.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis McElhenney of Ocean Springs, MS., two sons, Robin W. McElhenney and Raymond (Irene) McElhenney, all of Ocean Springs, daughter, Leia Baker of Sunny Isles, FL., stepson, Lewis (Jo Anne) West of Gautier, stepdaughter, Donna (Marshall) Seay of Ocean Springs, two brothers, Billy McElhenney of Jackson, MS. and Glenn (Patricia) McElhenney of Vancleave, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several stepgrandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 10, 2005, from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM, with a 1:30 PM chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
