George Park

Major George A. Park, U.S. Army Retired, age 76, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Saturday, April 1, 2006, in Ocean Springs. Major Park was a resident of the community for 40 years. He served in the US Army for 21 years, retiring as a Major in 1967. He was a helicopter pilot and served in Korea and Vietnam. After his retirement he flew helicopters for PHI in Louisiana for another 20 years. Major Park was a member of Grace Independent Baptist Church in Ocean Springs. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph A. Park II, parents, Joe A. Park and Merle Chamblee Park, and a brother, James H. Park. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Davis Park, daughter, Mary (Barry) Benner son, George H. "Butch" (Constance) Park all of Ocean Springs, MS., four grandchildren, Shyla Hunt, Georgeann Park, Stacie Ainsworth and Mathew Park, and four great-grandchildren, Chelsea Hunt, Meagan Hunt, Davin Lewis and Marileigh Lewis. There will be a private funeral service with burial at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
