George Thomas (Tom) Copeland of Ocean Springs, MS passed away comfortably on December 29, 2023, at 90 years old.
He was born March 22, 1933, to Clarence and Clara Copeland in Fulton, KY. Tom’s life journey was shared with Nancy Faye Copeland, his loving wife of 68 years. He also devoted 20 years to serving his country in the US Air Force. Tom lived a life embracing every adventure that came his way. Whether it was the thrill of skiing, the grace of ice skating, the exhilarating pursuit of deep-sea fishing, or tinkering with something considered irreparable (he could get it working again,) he approached each activity fearlessly, mastering them effortlessly. Beyond his daring pursuits, Tom was never too far from a golf course or an unturned page, displaying a passion for both that was unmatched. Tom’s love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren is shown through the countless moments captured in cherished photographs, frame by frame telling a story of the special bond he shared with each child. At the end of the day, Tom found immense joy and comfort in the simple pleasures of life, leaning back in his recliner watching football or classic westerns, but as we all know, he was mostly napping with a book in his lap. Tom loved a good nap until the very end. He has left a lasting mark on many, including those he is now reunited with and those who are still with us to carry on his memory.
Tom Copeland was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Clara Copeland, an infant daughter, and his siblings Frank, Bill, Jerry, Robert, and Diane.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Faye (Faught) Copeland, his brother CR Copeland Jr (Poly) his sister Pam (Jim) Resnic, his five children: Nancy (Floyd) Reynolds, Steve (Robyn) Copeland, Don (Virginia) Copeland, Jenny Copeland, and Sharon (Chris) Alverson. His ten grandchildren: April Herndon, Sandy Ferguson, Ryan (Melissa) Copeland, Meghan Wright, Adam (Brittany) Copeland, Jesse (Chris) Robinson, Matthew Wright, Cady (Nathan) Perrine, Emily (Jake) Matheny, and Mallory (Jake) Adkison. And twelve great-grandchildren: Aaron Kulp, Josh Kulp, Natalie Kulp, Emma Ferguson, Rylan Copeland, Mayson Copeland, Grayson Wright, Emmett Perrine, Lucy Robinson, Ellis Perrine, Henry Matheny, and Theo Robinson.
