Georgia “Gail” Hitt, 57, of Latimer has gone on in peace to be with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dougie Hitt, her parents, George and Ella Thomas, and her brother, Glenn Thomas, all of Latimer, MS. She is survived by a loving family, her husband, Doug, of 38 years. Two daughters, Crystal and Lindsay, and two son-in-laws, James Daughtery, and Timmy Hoda, and four beautiful grandchildren, which she held dear to her heart, Erin and Bryn Daughtery, and Jordyn and Devyn Hoda. Her sisters include Nora Fayard, Charlotte Benezue, and Rhonda Borries.
Gail was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Latimer and she worked at St. Martin North Elementary where she retired after 27 years. This was not just a job but an extension of co-workers whom she knew as her “other” family. Gail always lit up the room with her presence of humor and she enjoyed sharing stories and making people laugh. She was wonderful at writing poems and her art work was beautiful.
God’s mercy and grace seen her to a much better place, Saturday, December 17, 2011, and we all know that she is now experiencing the greatest gift beyond this world. She is at “TRUE PEACE.” When she left she took with her a little part of each of our hearts. As we experience the loss, we want to thank God for blessing us with one of His earth angels, Gail Hitt.
Our gift to you this Christmas will not be under a tree, but instead, we prayed God’s blessing upon you, and to give you eternal peace. Our prayers God does answer, for He gave His only Son so that we may all come to know Him and live together again in His Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Thomas Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs is in charge of arrangements.
