Gilbert Joseph Reaux

Gilbert Joseph Reaux, 69, of Biloxi, MS, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Biloxi, where his battle with cancer was courageous. He served in the United States Navy from 1956 until 1960. After serving in the military, he trained to become a barber in Jackson, MS. Being a barber was not only his profession for 45 years, but it was his way of life. He loved people and made many friends throughtout the years. He was an amateur and professional boxing official for 25 years. He was an avid golfer and loved mingling with his friends. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D'Iberville, where he dedicated his time to the annual bazaar. He was instrumental in developing the first $10,000.00 draw down for the Sacred Heart Elementary School, which is still going on today. Mr. Reaux was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Agnes Reaux, and his infant sister, Theresa . He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Yvonne (Bonnie) Romero Reaux, his daughter, Jeannine Reaux Blum, and her husband, Jonah, two grandchildren, Ashton Shannon Carron, Baylor Joseph Blum, his sister Nelldine Reaux Fountain, and her husband, John L. Fountain, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. He was saddened about leaving his grandchildren and not seeing them grow up because he was a deeply devoted family man.
