Gilbert Darrell Stewart

Mr. Gilbert Darrell Stewart, age 73, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Stewart was born on January 28, 1942, in Central City, KY. He served in the US Air Force from 1958 until 1964, joining the US Army in 1964 and Retiring in 1984. He was then hired as a Military Instructor with Civil Service at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL. He was transferred to Keesler AFB in 1992 and taught Missiles, Meteorology and Electronic Principles. Mr. Stewart Retired from Civil Service in 2004. In June of this year, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary. He was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Gilbert Stewart and parents, Darrell and Frances Stewart. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joan Elizabeth Stewart; daughter, Susan Lynn Stewart; son, Kevin Alan Stewart; brother, James Whitehouse; nine grandchildren, Adam, Eric, Tiffany, Justin, Ian, Nicole, Hailey, Donovan and Silas (who is on the way), and two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Tristen. On Monday, July 6, there will be a 2 pm graveside service in Crestlawn Memorial Park. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
