Gilman Luther Graves, Jr.

Mr. Gilman Luther Graves, Jr., age 83, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Saturday, February 7, 2009, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Graves was a resident of the community since June of 1979. He was born in Leominster, Massachusetts, and was a graduate of New York University. Mr. Graves was a retired Mechanical Engineer and was a member of the Fellow American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater and received the Purple Heart for combat wounds. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ocean Springs. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Deborah, beloved son, Gilman L. "Bumpy" Graves, III, his parents, Gilman and Bernice Graves, sister, Marilyn Reese and brother, Ralph Graves. Survivors include his wife of thirty years, Betty Ford Graves of Ocean Springs, MS., five daughters, Corinne, Valorie, Irene, Kathleen and Winogene, step-daughter, Diana Jones, beloved step-son, Michael A. Jones, and sister, Phyllis Richardson. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
