Gladys Carroll McRaney

Gladys Carroll McRaney, age 93, of Long Beach, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Chapman Oaks Personal Care Home in Long Beach. She was born in Forrest County and was a longtime resident of the Gulf Coast. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Long Beach. Mrs. McRaney was retired co-manager with her late husband of the Continental Trailway Bus Terminal in Gulfport. She was a powerful prayer warrior who was kind, considerate and always put others before herself. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother, and a gracious Southern lady. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Lamar McRaney; her parents, Joe S. Carroll and Margaret Byrd Carroll; daughter, Helen Jo Parten; son, Norman Lamar McRaney; grandson, Tommy Smith; and eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Villar (Ben) of Katy, TX; two sons, Tay McRaney (Phyllis) of Plano, TX, Hal McRaney (Debbie) of Ohatchee, AL; son-in-law, Maurice Dane Parten of Long Beach; seven grandchildren, Mathew McRaney, Natalie Nunnelly (Eric), Dana Parten Wittmann (Tommy), Josh Parten, Jon Ty Parten (Lori) Michelle Winder (Wallace), and Daniel McRaney; and ten great-grandchildren. Many thanks to her son-in-law, Maurice Dane Parten for being her caregiver for over twenty years. The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport where friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until the service.
