Gladys Carroll McRaney, age 93, of Long Beach, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Chapman Oaks Personal Care Home in Long Beach. She was born in Forrest County and was a longtime resident of the Gulf Coast. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Long Beach.
Mrs. McRaney was retired co-manager with her late husband of the Continental Trailway Bus Terminal in Gulfport. She was a powerful prayer warrior who was kind, considerate and always put others before herself. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother, and a gracious Southern lady.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Lamar McRaney; her parents, Joe S. Carroll and Margaret Byrd Carroll; daughter, Helen Jo Parten; son, Norman Lamar McRaney; grandson, Tommy Smith; and eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Villar (Ben) of Katy, TX; two sons, Tay McRaney (Phyllis) of Plano, TX, Hal McRaney (Debbie) of Ohatchee, AL; son-in-law, Maurice Dane Parten of Long Beach; seven grandchildren, Mathew McRaney, Natalie Nunnelly (Eric), Dana Parten Wittmann (Tommy), Josh Parten, Jon Ty Parten (Lori) Michelle Winder (Wallace), and Daniel McRaney; and ten great-grandchildren.
Many thanks to her son-in-law, Maurice Dane Parten for being her caregiver for over twenty years.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport where friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until the service. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Roseland Park in Hattiesburg.
