Gladys Marie Brooks Totzeck

Gladys Marie Brooks Totzeck, 87 of Ocean Springs, MS formerly of Amsterdam, NY, Willington, CT, and Port Charlotte, FL passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

She was born on August 16, 1935 in Amsterdam, NY. She graduated from Amsterdam Catholic School and Albany Nursing Schools. She retired from Mansfield Training School in Mansfield, CT, and then worked for twenty years at Hamilton’s Uniform Shop in Port Charlotte, FL. She married William C. Totzeck on November 10, 1956. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, baking, and gardening.

Gladys was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family was always important to her, and she hosted many family dinners and reunions. She loved to travel, especially camping in her younger years. Her greatest joy was watching Hallmark movies and Friday night dinners with the gang.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Totzeck; parents, Charles and Laura Stangle Brooks Heise; and sibling, Helen Totzeck.

Gladys is survived by her children, William (Brenda) Totzeck of Zebulon, GA, James Totzeck of Ocean Springs, MS, Patricia (Michael) Smith of Ocean Springs, MS, and Timothy (Deborah) Totzeck of Willington, CT; grandchildren, Christy Skorupski of Ocean Springs, MS, Jessica (Scott Lech) Totzeck of Enfield, CT, Billy (Christy Crane) Totzeck of Zebulon, GA, Bobby Totzeck of Zebulon, GA, Timothy (Ashley) Smith of Ocean Springs, MS, Laura (Shawn) Durand of Columbia, CT, and Brooke (Alex) Wilkinson of Virginia Beach, VA; great-grandchildren, Landon, Abby, Camden, Krisalyn, Caylee, Lincoln, Maverick, Robert, Mason, Rocklyn, Peyton, Brandy, and Sawyer; and siblings, Charles Brooks of Amsterdam, NY and Michael (Belinda) Heise of Maui, HI.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Heart Association in Glady’s memory.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior.
