Glenda Patricia Carter Sigurnjak

Glenda Patricia Sigurnjak, age 83, went to her heavenly home on March 24th, 2022.  She was surrounded by family in her Ocean Springs Mississippi home.  Glenda was born on April 9th, 1938 in Alma, Georgia.  She had a lengthy career as a registered nurse serving at the Gulfport VA, Biloxi VA, and Ocean Springs Hospital.  Her most memorable years were spent in Labor and Delivery at Ocean Springs Hospital, where she continued to work even after retiring at 70 years of age.  She loved helping parents bring their new babies into this world and touched many of their lives forever. The greatest joy of her life was to share God’s word to any and all that would listen.  For those who wouldn’t listen she prayed for God’s divine intervention. She was a faithful member to First Baptist Church, Ocean Springs for many years. She was a woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. Her neighbors and friends were always welcomed into her life with open arms and they considered her their mother.

She is preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Mildred Carter, her siblings, Gwen Carter, Afton Bland, Frieda Smith, Allard Carter, and Gary Carter.  

Glenda is survived by her loving husband, Glenn James Sigurnjak.  Glenn and Glenda were married for 58 years; children, Joel Sigurnjak, Brad (Margaret), Kathy (Kelly Levi) Sigurnjak, David (Beverly) Sigurnjak; twelve grandchildren; Joel, Jr. (Christy), Cherie, Ava (Tommie), Angela, Alyssa (Jarrod), Hannah, Brianna, Laura, Cailyn; and seven great-grandchildren, River, Emma, Layla, T.J., Grace, Caleb and Joshua.  Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

A special thank you to all who visited her during her illness.  We also want to thank Kare-In-Home Hospice (Cammie, Courtney and Connie), and the in-house caregivers, (Ann, Alex, Pereedia, Paula, Keyshia, Quateasha and many others) who took very good care of her during these past few months. Thank you to Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home who is in charge of the arrangements.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Visitation for friends and loved ones from 10:00 am. - 11:30, with the Service to begin thereafter.  Graveside service at the Crestlawn Memorial Park, following the service.
