Glendon Jimmie Wright

Mr. Glendon Jimmie Wright, 75, of Gautier, MS, died Saturday, June 14, 2008, in Gautier. Mr. Wright was born January 23, 1933, in Caleasieu, LA and had been a longtime resident of the Coast. He served nine years in the U. S. Air Force from 1951 to 1960 as an aircraft radar maintenance technician and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Glen was a longstanding patriot; a faithful and loving husband; a mentor to many and a devout father to his family. Subsequent to his military service, he worked at Avondale Shipyard in Avondale, LA, Hughes Aircraft in Long Beach, CA, Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS and CDI Marine in Moss Point, MS, serving in various positions in the field of electrical and electronics engineering and design. Following his retirement, he was employed at Lowes in Gautier, MS, Singing River Hospital System in Pascagoula, MS and the MDA. Glen enjoyed fishing, flying, gardening, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Virginia Dare Treherne Wright of Gautier, MS; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann McNeill and Gerald of Hammond, LA, Bethny Downey and Rodney of Denham Springs, LA, Vicki Merchent and Robert of Mandeville, LA, Theresa Bostwick and Jimmy Ray of Grand Bay, Al; sons and daughters-in-law, John Wright and Helene Brown of Satsuma, LA, and Jimmy Hudson and Carrie Ann of Vancleave; sister, Jerelene "Geri" Gandy and her husband, Bill; nineteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a nephew and niece. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs where friends may visit from 12 noon until service time. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
