Gloria Ware White died February 23, 2015. She was born in Gulfport, Mississippi, daughter of Mrs. Knox White and the late Mr. Knox White. She was the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. White and the late Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Barrett.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Knox White, her sisters, Janet White of Gulfport, Julia Swetland of Tupelo, Patricia Horn (Ralph) of Memphis and her brother Doug White (Risa) of Brandon. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Melissa Swetland, Hallie Battle, Tyler Horn, Maggie Horn, Christina Adams Julieanne White and Deke White and a number of great nieces and nephews.
A 1977 graduate of Gulfport East High School, Miss White attended Mississippi University for Women. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a BA in journalism.
Miss White was an active member of St. James Catholic Church, The Revelers, Merry Maskers, the Gulfport Yacht Club and the Four Seasons Garden Club.
Her interests included gardening, family European travels and her “sisters’ trips.” She was devoted to her dog of eighteen years, Astor.
She will be remembered by her family and her many friends for her fun loving spirit, her dancing at any time, her wit, laughter, courage, grace, caring, her lighting up a room on her entrance, her vivacious personality and a beauty who was ever loyal and giving to her family and friends of multigenerations.
A private family service and burial will be held.
Friends are invited to visit with the family Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
