Grace (Viator) Werkau, 87, of Biloxi, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Ocean Springs Hospital.
Mrs. Werkau was born July 20, 1921 in Biloxi and was a member of Blessed Seelos Catholic Church. She was a kind hearted, energetic woman with many friends and family who loved her very much. Grace was a shining angel and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne Werkau, whom she met while he was stationed at Keesler AFB; her parents, Joseph A. Viator and Laurence Lachaussee Viator; grandson, Kelly Werkau, sister, Doris Brown and brothers, Jake and Phillip Viator.
She is survived by her son, John Russell (Betty) Werkau of Biloxi; two daughters, Karen (Ed) Kahler, of Meridian, MS and Janet Sivori of Biloxi; sister, Regina (Lloyd) Fortenberry of Wiggins; brothers, Donald (Mabel) Viator of Biloxi, Warren (Anna Mae) Viator of Delisle, Joseph Viator, Jr. of Wiggins; sister-in-law, Vernabel Crane of Ocean Springs; grandchildren, Karlene (Chris) Foret, of Biloxi; Kevin (Tina) Kahler, of Wichita, KS, Kristine Kahler of Carmel, CA, Stephanie Sivori of Biloxi, Randy (Stephanie) Myers, of Pace, FL, Rhonda (Terry) Jones of Pace, FL and MSgt Brad (Joy) Hodges of Fredricksburg, VA and eight great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations to the Blessed Seelos Catholic Church for masses to be said in her honor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Blessed Seelos Catholic Church, Lameuse Street, Biloxi where friends may visit one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Wayne, and grandson, Kelly.
