Mr. Harlen Terry, age 74, of Ocean Springs, MS., passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2010, in Gulfport, MS.
Mr. Terry was born on June 14, 1935, in Tilden, IL., and worked for years as a prison guard at Menard State Prison in Chester, IL. He then moved to Port O'Connor, TX. in 1976, where he was an assistant manager at Imco Oil Dock. In 1988 he moved to Las Vegas, NV. and worked for the Mirage Casino until 1998. He was transferred to the Beau Rivage and was an assistant manager at Rex Warehouse until he retired in 2001. He served in the Marine Corp in the Korean War, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Las Vegas, and belonged to the Masonic Lodge #1098 in Seadrift, TX. He loved to fish, barbeque, work in his yard and write Christian poetry.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Elizabeth Kane, father, Harlen Madison Terry, Sr., brother, Leo Terry and granddaughter, Sarah Terry.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Ethel Terry of Ocean Springs, MS., son, Robert Terry of Mechanicsburg, PA., daughter, Robin Pilcher of Moundridge, KS., brother, A.R. Terry of Ellington, MO., eight precious grandchildren, Teresa, Miranda, Lacey, Heather, Tabatha, Blake, Ben and Kate, five great-grandchildren, Austin, Kaitlin, Terris, Shaylyn and Baxton, and several others who called him Grandpa.
Services and burial will be in Tilden, IL., at a later date.
The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
