Mr. Harold Conner Cain, 83, of Biloxi, MS, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, in Gulfport. Mr. Cain was born in Perkinston, MS, and had been a longtime resident of the coast. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a pioneer of the nursing home industry in Mississippi. He had been in the nursing home business for the past 50 years and was the owner of Greenbriar Nursing Home, Azalea Gardens, and Driftwood Nursing Home. He served as President of the Mississippi Healthcare Association. He was also the owner of Magnolia Plantation Hotel, Conner Cain Travel Agency and Conner Cain Tours & Charter. He was the former owner of Lakeview Nursing Home, Ocean Springs Nursing Home and the Hotel Reed. Conner was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Biloxi, formerly employed with the Biloxi VA, and a former Circuit Clerk of Stone County. Conner was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph H. and Hilda Martin Cain; two brothers, Tommy Cain and Joe Cain; and two sisters, Helen Nicholson and Gladys Cain. He is survived by his wife, Avonna Cain; daughters, Carol (George) Smith, and Jennifer Cain; sons, Christopher Cain, Brian (Chris) Cain, and Ted (Julie) Cain; sister, Violet (Ralph) Burton; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visitation is Wednesday, July 7, 2010, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Porter Avenue in Ocean Spring, where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Southern Memorial Park.
