Harold Payton Shell, 87, beloved husband of 63 years to Joy Favors Shell, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 4, 2011. He was born in Sparks, Georgia on September 7, 1923. Mr Shell was the son of Methodist Minister, John N. Shell and Clara Belle Barry Shell. Preceding him on his heavenly journey are his three brothers, Mr. James R. Shell, Mr. George Shell and Mr. Loyce A. Shell, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Alice Maddox and Mrs. Elsie Butt. In addition to his wife, Harold leaves behind two daughters, Mrs. Sherry S. Balius and husband Bill Balius, Mrs. Tamara S. Morrison and her husband William E. Morrison, three grandchildren, Mrs. Rachel M. Gillenwater and her husband Michael, Mr. E. Zachary Morrison and Ms Sarah L. Morrison, three great grandchildren, Bryce, Ashton and Adley Gillenwater all of Gulfport. He was a resident of Gulfport since 1970, moving here from Columbus, GA. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church, Gulfport, former owner of Gulfport Electric Supply Co., former member of the Optimist Club. His hobbies were bowling, fishing and golf.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at BRADFORD-O'KEEFE FUNERAL HOME, 15th St. Gulfport. Visitation 10:00 A.M. until service time.
