Harold L. Rogers

Harold L. Rogers Jr., age 83, of Ocean Springs, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 from congestive heart failure. Harold was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Biloxi and The University of Southern Mississippi, where he received his Masters and Specialist degrees. In 1950 his National Guard unit was activated where he served his county during the Korean conflict, retiring from the National Guard in 1992. He taught auto mechanics at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Jackson County Campus for 22 years. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Biloxi, The Fort Maurepas Society, Model T Club, and AAECM. He was also a Lifetime member of Les Pierotts carnival association. Harold loved boating and fishing. Many of his friends called him the "Pelican" because he kept just about everything he caught. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, golf, and reading the funny paper. Harold was preceded in death by his father, Harold L. Rogers, Sr. and son, Christopher D. Rogers. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Rebecca "Becky" Rogers; his mother, Vivian T. Rogers; his sister, Patsy R. Hebert; son, Thomas (Gia) Rogers; daughter, Laura (Robin) Daugherty; grandsons, Ryan Rogers, Eric (Marian) Rogers, Taylor Daugherty, Peyton Daugherty, Dustin and Cameron Gary. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from 5pm until 8pm, at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Wednesday, February 17, 2016 Mr. Rogers will lie in state from 9:30am until 10:30am, with a 10:30am Church Service, all at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
