Harriet Wimberly

Harriet G. Wimberly, age 89, of Biloxi, MS was called by our Heavenly Father to rest on January 6, 2009. Harriet was born in North Carolina. She traveled extensively through Europe and the United States with her husband and family. She served her country as the loving wife of a military husband. Settling first in Denver, CO, where she lived for 25 years and had a very active life as a bondswoman and co-owner of ABC Bail Bonds. In 1990 she returned to Biloxi, MS where she held so many fond memories. She loved working in her greenhouse and growing everything under the sun. You could always count on seeing her digging away in her many gardens. She was an extraordinary teacher and brilliant woman who shared her time, sense of humor, gardening talents, wisdom and knowledge with everyone she met. She was an amazing business woman who could turn $1 into $1000 at the drop of a hat. She judged no one and believed in the good of everyone. Her heart rested in her husband, her daughters and her many grandchildren. Mrs. Wimberly was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Wimberly and her daughter, Carol J. Davenport. Survivors include her four children, Dianne Carpenter of Honolulu, HI, Cathy Wimberly of Biloxi, MS, Bobbi Harbrecht and her husband, Paul of Biloxi, MS and Vicki Wimberly and her husband, Tom of Evergreen, CO, also 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Harriets's family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Georgette, Jamie, Middie and Mary of Sunshine Estates and especially to Angie Heflin and Shirley Parker for their unconditional love and wonderful care they gave her during her final years. You could ask no one, to love your mother like they did. They simply gave from their heart and she relished in their care. "Little Bit" will miss them dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Foundation, 14175 South Country Hills Dr., Gulfport, MS 39503. Services will be held Friday, January 9, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes. Burial will be at Biloxi National Cemetery at a later date.
