Havard “Butch” Jordan, Jr., age 76, of Gulfport, went home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Butch was a lifelong resident of Gulfport. He was a graduate of Gulfport High School and Western Kentucky University. Butch worked 33 years for the City of Gulfport as Purchasing Agent and then as Chief Administrative Officer until his retirement in 2001. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Gulfport, where he served for many years as a deacon and an elder.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Havard Jordan, Sr. and Julia Jordan, and granddaughter Elizabeth Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Jordan; children, James Jordan and wife Shannon Jordan, Heather Jordan Carter and husband Christopher Carter; grandchildren, Kennedie Jordan, Grace Carter, and Vivienne Jordan; and siblings, Ken Jordan, Beth Jordan Stanton, and David Jordan.
Butch’s legacy is his faith, integrity, and witty sense of humor. He had an infectious love of the Christmas season, and his hobbies included model railroading, travel, and gardening. Butch loved to prepare meals, creating the opportunity for fellowship and help for those in need. If he were around to hear good things said about him, he would probably say “who cares!”, but all of those who have known and loved him, do care, and will miss him greatly.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church of Gulfport. Friends may visit one-hour prior to service. Bradford-O’Keefe funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Jordan family.
