Heather S. Rice

Heather S. Rice, 52, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 in Diamondhead, MS.

Heather was born on May 26, 1971 in Biloxi, MS to Billy Joe Smith and Pamela Hebert Smith. She graduated from USM in 1996 with a BA in Psychology. Heather served in the U.S. Army from 1999 until 2004 providing intelligence support to the 101^st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell, KY. She also worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (Jackson, MS Division) as an Intelligence Analyst from 2005 until 2023 at the time of her death. She deployed to Iraq in 2010 as part of an FBI intelligence mission. Heather loved to travel and spent many vacations in Europe with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy Joe Smith and Pamela Hebert Smith, both of Biloxi, MS.

Heather’s survivors include her sister, Brandi Smith Poncet of Diamondhead, MS; and her niece, Olivia Smith of Houston, TX who considered Heather as her second mother.

Visitation was held on Friday, December 1, 2023. Heather was interred at Biloxi National Cemetery.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to her FBI family from many parts of Mississippi for your support and attendance during her visitation. Heather was loved by many and will forever be missed.
