Helen Cooper Havard died on Saturday, July 23, 2005, in Gulfport, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Murphy Edwin Cooper and Frances Ferguson Cooper of Wiggins, MS and her husband, Bert Havard, Jr. of Gulfport. Mrs. Havard graduated from Wiggins High School in 1936 and from Brenau College in Georgia in 1940 with a BA in History and a Minor in Music. She also played the violin in the college symphony and was inducted into Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was one of the first junior members of the Wiggins Woman's Club. She was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Gulfport. She was a member of the Gulf Coast Symphony Guild, served on the board of the Metropolitan Dinner Club, and was active in the Community Concert Organization. Mrs. Havard was a gracious hostess who enjoyed entertaining her friends. Her talents included interior decorating and architectural design. She was truly dedicated and devoted to her children and grandchildren. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her daughters, Bamba Pigott and her husband, Walton Pigott, of Pass Christian and Barry Wolfe of Ocean Springs, and by her loving grandchildren, Kristin Wolfe and her husband, Benjamin Duke of New Orleans, Hudson Wolfe, IV, of New Orleans, and Megan Pigott of New York. She is also survived by her cousin, William A. Ferguson, of Huntsville, Alabama, and her dear friends, Becky Lane White of Gulfport and John Dorsett Lane of Wiggins. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 29, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Gulfport where friends may call from 1 p.m. until the service. Memorials may be made to Gulf Coast Rescue Mission, 2750 Mission Lane, Biloxi, MS 39532 or St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 123 Church Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39507. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
