Helen Hennig Poritzky, 88, died on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the home of her daughter, Pamela Berkeley. Born on October 29, 1919 in Biloxi, MS she was the daughter of Godfred and Daisy Switzer Hennig. She was the last of eleven children and one of over one hundred first cousins. She received her Master's Degree in Nursing from Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL and had worked as a registered nurse at Northern Westchester Hospital, Mt. Kisco, NY, Cook County Hospital, Chicago, IL and in hospitals in New Orleans. Helen married Harold Poritzky of Peekskill, NY in 1944. They resided in Yorktown Heights, NY. She enjoyed fishing, singing, dancing, sewing, gardening and golf.
She leaves two daughters, Pamela Berkeley of Sheffield, MA with whom she lived and Robin Poritzky of Yorktown Heights, NY; two grandchildren, Eleanor Boynton and Tanyth Berkeley both of New York City.
