Mrs. Helen L. Barnes Long, 67, of D'Iberville, MS, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, in D'Iberville.
Mrs. Long was born in Panama City, FL and had been a longtime resident of the coast. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Marie Long; her parents, Oscar "Shorty" Barnes and Mary Arvie Morris Barnes.; and a brother, Lamar Barnes. She is survived by her husband, Edward H. Long, Jr. of D'Iberville; daughter, Karen Michelle (Jeff) Lewis of Birmingham, AL; son, Edward H. (Beth) Long, III of Hiram, GA; sister, Wanda Segers of Lynn Haven, FL; three brothers, Gene (Myrtle) Barnes of Lynn Haven, FL, Billie (Mary Nell) Barnes and Glenn (Virginia) Barnes of Panama City, FL; and five grandchildren, Jeremy, and Ryan Long, Jessica, James and Jeffery Lewis.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2008, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi where friends may visit from 5 until 7 p.m. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Parkway Presbyterian Church, 505 S. Tyndall Parkway, Panama City, FL 32404.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial be made to the American Cancer Society, Liver Cancer Research, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507, or to the Parkway Presbyterian Church, 505 S. Tyndall Parkway, Panama City, FL 32404.
