Helen Leah Reames Bush

Helen Leah Reames Bush , 94, of Gulfport died Friday, May 9, 2008 in Gulfport. Mrs. Bush was born March 7, 1914 in New Orleans and had been a resident of the coast since 1949. Helen was a graduate of Hotel Dieu Nursing School in New Orleans and was a surgurical nurse and public health department nurse throughout World War II, where her husband served in the Pacific. Helen was active in all her children's functions including PTA, Girl Scouts, basketball, horse show events, and Little League Baseball primarly in the Fernwood area. A gardener, seamstress, and homemaker, she was well known in her neighborhood especially for her azaleas. A true southern lady, Helen will be missed by all. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Billie V. Bush and her parents Coralie Bernier Reames and Joseph Reames. She is survived by her daughter Sally C. Bush and son P. Keats Bush both of Gulfport. Private services will be held at a later date. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home on 15th Street in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
