Helen S. Mallett

Helen Souza Mallett, 75 of Vancleave, MS, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on Saturday July 22, 2023 at Specialty Select Hospital in Gulfport, MS.

Helen was born on August 17,1947 in Norwich, CT but became a longtime resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She worked for over 20 years at PRM, Inc, Gulfport, MS until retirement.  In her younger years, Helen enjoyed various outdoor activities from clamming to gardening, but she has always enjoyed spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Manuel D. Souza; mother, Helen (Lisiewski) Souza; and sister, Pauline Belles of Voluntown, CT.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Lawrence “Larry” Mallett; daughter, Jennifer Gilmore (Charles); granddaughters, Katelyn Gilmore and Gabrielle Gilmore; sister, Chestine O’Reilly (Roger) of Norwich, CT; brother, Manuel Souza Jr. (Kathleen) of Ledyard, CT; sister, Mary Souza of Jewett City, CT; and nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 27th, 2023 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 911 Porter Ave., Ocean Springs, MS 39564, with funeral service following at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Ocean Springs, MS.
