Mrs. Helen Rita "Nannie" Hughes, age 89, of Biloxi, MS., died Thursday, November 10, 2005, in Biloxi.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Bethleham, PA., on December 23, 1915. She was a resident of the community for 82 years. She was also a gifted embroiderer, gardener, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmie Hughes, her parents, Michael and Eva Kohler, three sisters, Margaret Szlachetka, Catherine Hengemihla, and Mary Brosh, and two brothers, Frank Kohler and Charles Kohler, and son-in-law, Harry Smith, Jr.
She is the beloved mother of daughter, Rita Mae Smith, of the St. Martin Community,and beloved "Nannie" of four grandchildren, Arthur Catchot, Jr., Helen Catchot, James E. "Eddie" Smith and Eva M. White, and eight great-grandchildren, Tammy Lynn Catchot, Harry E. Smith, James E. Smith, Jr., Norman E. Bleuler, Edwin A. Jaehne, Timothy A. White, Davis A. "Alex" White, and Kristen M. White, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 14, 2005, from 10 AM - 11 AM, with an 11 AM chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery.
