Henry J. Toncrey, Sr., age 89, died January 23, 2010. Born in Biloxi, Mr. Henry, was a longtime resident of D'Iberville, MS where he was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church. Mr. Henry owned and operated Henry's Body Shop in Biloxi for many years but also dealt in retail and real estate investment. His many interests included playing cards and patronage of the Mobile Greyhound Park, where he was a respected and beloved regular guest. He was proud to be the last charter member of the D'Iberville Community Club.
Mr. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Anthony Toncrey, Sr. and Phillice Acevado. Also preceding him were his two brothers, Anthony (Tanita) and Gary Toncrey and his four sisters, Delphine, Gertrude (Tottie) and Shear Toncrey and Lucille Toncrey Paulos. And also his special friend, Donald Santa Cruz.
Mr. Henry will be forever missed by his wife of 68 years, Jacqueline Moran Toncrey and his children, Henry Toncrey, Jr. (Ann), Beverly Dimitry (Joseph, deceased), Noll Toncrey (Gwen), Amber Forbish (John, deceased), Kevin Toncrey, Rachel Baldwin (Timothy) and Lydia Mallett. He is survived also by twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his friend since childhood, Mr. Jerry O'Keefe.
The family wishes to thank Mr. Henry's many health providers for their gentle and excellent care during his illness, especially Dr. Christopher Shelby and Drs. Zayed and Passarelli.
A Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until mass time. Interment will follow in D'Iberville Memorial Park.
