Herman L. McKinney, 85, of Washington, D.C., died Saturday, march 11, 2006 in Baltimore, MD. Born in Faulkner, Arkansas, he was a former longtime resident of Pascagoula and was a resident of Gulfport before moving to Washington before Hurricane Katrina. He retired from the U. S. Navy in 1962 after 20 years of service, serving in World War II and the Korean War as an Aviation Electronics Technician. Following retirement he was employed at Ingalls Shipbuilding and then became an independent contractor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Maudie McKinney; and a brother, Truel McKinney.
Mr. McKinney is survived by two sisters, Mattie Holston of Pattison, Ms and Lillian Holston of Waynesboro, MS;
two brothers, Edward McKinney of Mustang, OK and Vernon McKinney of Citronelle, AL; and he was loved and respected by a host of nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be Monday, March 20, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
