Herman Louis Drake Jr.

Herman L. Drake Jr., age 77, died November 8, 2010. Born in Indianapolis, he was a longtime resident of Biloxi. Herman served in the Navy for 3 years as an air traffic controller. He was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration from 1959-1987 as an air traffic controller, supervisor and facility manager. Herman was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, with 23 years as a member of Biloxi Lodge #606. He was currently serving as Vice President-South for the Mississippi State Elks Association. Herman was a Past Exalted Ruler for the Biloxi Lodge, as well as Past Secretary-Treasurer for the MS State Elks Association. Herman is also a member of the Mississippi State Elks Hall of Fame. Herman was the beloved husband of 50 years to Maryann Fudger Drake, loving father to Donna Drake, Kimberly Drake, and Steven Drake. He is also survived by his brother Robert D. Drake, daughter-in-law Kelly Drake, brother and sister-in-law Arthur and Joanne Fudger, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday, November 15, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. Both will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Biloxi.
