Howard E. Saucier, 83, of Long Beach, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 in Gulfport. He was born in Lumberton and had been a resident of Long Beach for 57 years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and the Mississippi National Guard and was a World War II veteran. He worked for Ingalls Shipyard for seventeen years and Colonial Fast Freight for seven years. He retired in 1992 working for W.C. Fore Trucking.
Mr. Saucier was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach. He was a lifetime Master Mason and a past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star, a member of American Legion Post 119 and the VFW in Long Beach. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Katie Saucier; a sister, Ruby Grace Stapleton; and a brother, Hershel Saucier.
Mr. Saucier is survived by his wife, Sheelah Saucier; two daughters, Yvonne Saucier and Sheelah Alane Saucier; two sons, Kurklin Saucier and Michael Saucier; two sisters, Bernice McQueen and Alice McGraw; two brothers, Hayward Saucier and Charles Saucier; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 18, 2010 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 19, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
