Howard W. Smith

Howard W. Smith, age 86, of Latimer passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 in Ocean Springs. Howard, formerly of Gainesville, GA, was a resident of Jackson County for 43 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Shilo Smith of Gainesville, GA; ten siblings; and a step-daughter, Linda Hall Massey. Howard, a loving and caring husband, is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ruth Fountain Hall Smith; step-son, Mack Hall, Jr.; step-daughter, Margaret Hall Gollott and her husband, Tyrone; step-son-in-law, Ray Massey, Jr.; seven step-grandchildren and nine step-great grandchildren. The family wishes to express their special thanks to the nurses of the second floor East of Ocean Springs Hospital, Dr. Jim Martin, Father Bernard Farrell and Hospice of Light for the care they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 4900 Riley Road, Ocean Springs, MS 39564. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Avenue, in Biloxi where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
