Ida Mae Simmons

Mrs. Ida Mae Simmons, age 80, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016. Mrs. Simmons was a native and lifelong resident of Biloxi. She was a member of the Fleur de Lis Ladies Auxiliary, member of VFW Post 6731 and former President of the VFW Post 2434. She was of the Catholic faith and formerly attended St. Michael Catholic Church. She also was a volunteer at the Biloxi V.A. She loved bingo, dancing and spending time with her family. Mrs. Simmons is preceded in death by her husband, Carl K. Simmons; parents, Annie Richards Hebert and Lonnie “Hoss” Hebert; sons, Larry Hebert and Michael Simmons, Sr.; three brothers, Jimmy Wilkerson, Patrick Hebert and Ronald Hebert; and great granddaughter, Maddilyn Marie Simmons. Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Lonon and Lisa Jacobs; sons, Marion (Debra) Bedlington, Lonnie (Ana) Bedlington, Donald (Marie) Bedlington, Carl (Leigh) Bedlington and Mario Barhanovich; sisters, Dean (Henry) Oliver, Julie Murray, Frances Cutter and Lois Ann Phelps; brothers, Lonnie (Patricia) Hebert, Eddie Wilkerson and Johnny Wilkerson; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Ocean Springs Nursing and Rehab Center and the staff of Ocean Springs Hospital in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Services will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery.
