Ima "Lois" Young West

Ima “Lois” Young West, age 77, of Gulfport, MS, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

Lois was born on September 4, 1946 in Jackson, MS. She lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for over fifty years and was known for her quick wit and charm. She began her career as a small business owner and then worked for the Grand Casino from its opening in the early 1990’s until her retirement from Harrah’s. Lois was active in her community and served as a president and member of the MS Gulf Coast Quota Club and spearheaded the St Patrick’s Day parade “Shenanigans” which ran for several years in Gulfport.

Her love of travel and adventurous spirit took her to many destinations across the world. Throughout the years, Lois formed so many friendships that she loved and cherished including the “Gatormates.”

Lois is survived by her son, Charles “Chuck” Young (Sarah); sister, Peggy Lee; brother, James Hill; stepsons, Steve Young (Laura) and Allen Young (Anne); nieces and nephews, Richard Hill, Melissa Albeck, Lorie Hill Hastings, and Rob Lee.   

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15^th Street, Gulfport. Friends may visit one-hour prior to service. Bradford-O’Keefe funeral Home, 15^th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the West family.
